The Mark is Supercharged

Hi all, Here is a picture and video update of my S/C project. It will be dialed in the next few days, and to the dyno within the next week or so.

This S/C build was professionally managed and installed by Aric Carrion of Injected Engineering - Kennesaw, GA.

ph# 678.449.6871 Injected Engineering Coming Soon!

I highly recommend Aric and his company. As you can see, his work speaks for itself

The engine internals are completely stock, and the plan is to lay down 400-450rwhp. Since this is a stock motor, we all know they will not live on the edge too long.

Therefore, real world numbers might be closer to 400rwhp. Aric will decide this while tuning on the dyno. I will post the dyno results as soon as I can, so stay tuned...

Went to the dyno last night Here is the video of the last two pulls and the dyno sheet.

Aric is going to go ahead and install a Vortech mini race blow off valve to help smooth the idle pulse, and put his boost gauge on it to see what psi it is running at. He still wants to look into a couple things yet, so this is an excellent starting point, or finish point for that matter - since I am already happy with it the way it is.

The weather was nasty yesterday for a tune - hot, and raining, but the intercooler did it's job keeping the air temp only 8 degrees above what the Mark's outside temp gauge showed.

On the down side... I have major traction issues now

A lot has happened to The Mark in the past 6 months. Here is a update on the build:

The compressor failed back in August, and was replaced under the Vortech warranty. A 3.1 pulley was installed and it now makes 401rwhp & 318rwtq @ 7k rpm & 10psi.

Best track et to date is now: 12.162 @ 113.42

Here are some links to videos, pictures, and info on the build thus far:

Injected Engineering: SSHS 7

Injected Engineering: Mike Schultz's 1998 Mark VIII

The StreetFire Media Network[/quote]

It was very tough decision, but I found myself at a crossroad with the Mark. I have decided to keep it in the 400-500rwhp range. I just do not see the point of going any further with the power at this time. Therefore, mostly bottom end stuff is being planned to be done. Here is a highlight list:

Injected 302 Stroker Kit

Custom Manley Pistons-off set

Manley H-Beam Rods

ARP 2000 Bolts

Total Seal Stainless File Rings

Federal Mogul H Rod & Main Bearings

ARP Main Stud Kit

ARP High Tensile Strength Head Studs (with 12 pt nuts)

Melling High Volume Oil Pump with Billet Gears

Refresh Cylinder Heads

Accufab Single Blade Throttle Body

96-98 Cobra Intake

Here is the latest to what is happening with the Brembo brakes, and Boze wheels that are being installed now:

M2300X Ford Racing/Brembo 13in 2000 Cobra R Front Brake Kit

136-2261002 Baer Eradispeed Extreme Plus 2 piece Front Brake Rotors for 1999-2004 Mustang Cobra

DP31031C EBC Brake Pads for 2000 Cobra R/Brembo Brakes

9904HABA Front Hub and Bearing Assembly for 1999-2004 Mustang Cobra

136-2262001 Baer Eradispeed Extreme Plus 2 piece Rear brake rotors for 1999-2004 Mustang Cobra

YR3Z1109AA Rear Hub for 1999-2004 Mustang Cobra IRS

E9DZ1215A Rear Wheel Bearing for 1999-2004 Mustang Cobra IRS

BR57B Rear brake pads for 1994-1998 Lincoln Mark VIII

Big Ed's Caliper Relocation Kit

Classic Tube SS Brake Line Kit

Custom made Boze rims

Tires Toyo Proxes T1R 255/40ZR18

Tires Toyo Proxes T1R 285/35ZR18

NAPA Reman Ford rear calipers

Here is a link to some progress pictures of the hubs, brakes, and wheel conversion:

very nice project, those brakes are blinging!. I would say the stroker is the way to go, but if ur on a budget just do the forged bottom end, throw a set of 96-98 cobra heads and valve train on it along with the 98-96 manifold, that thing would be a beast. On another note, i would think it would be really unique to see a 5sp in any built up mark. Since they are all auto, would be a neat swap. Ive never seen one

Thanks, Guys The Classic Tube SS lines are now installed both front and rear. I added some more pictures to the link above. Aric really liked the Classic tube kit, that included new brackets too. A very nice kit.

He is going to put some drag racing rear hub studs in, and try a 1/4" hub centric spacer in the rear to do two things. 1) Get the tire off the sway bar. 2) Get the wheel closer to the inside edge of the fender.

I am not sure if this will work or not yet, because it is hard to tell if there is a 1/4" to give between the inner fender and the tire the way it sits now. Unless he is thinking of rolling the fenders. It is very difficult to judge this, and Aric is exploring options now to see what is most visually appealing with the stance. I totally trust his judgment with this, and he knows exactly what I want.

Nothing is totally decided yet, but with the many curves that the Mark has, the look of the rear favors pushing the rims out more towards the fenders, while keeping it inside the wheel wells.

It is all about the stance...

Been a while, but here is a update... The Mark has a new motor, and is in the finishing stages as I speak, getting ready for the dyno tune. Here is a link to some photos, and a current list of mods done to the car. The Mark is going to be featured in a upcoming issue of Super Rod Magazine.

Here is the first Super Rod Magazine article that you can view online now of the Mark's engine build. This is the August 2008 issue of Super Rod, that you can find a Barnes and Noble, and other book stores. There will be a follow up feature done when the Mark is all done.

PS: Thanks again to Aric and Will for making this all happen!
