They're anticipating over 3000 cars! I went to the 30th in Charlotte as a spectator and had a blast, bringing the car down to show this year.
Anyone else planning on attending?

I was plannin on going down with my dad and the South Jersey mustang club cuz he invited me to stay, but it'll prolly be really expensive and I wanted to go on a cruise this year so I dont think I can take two vacations without puttin one on CC which I dont wanna do so I think i'm gonna skip it.. but have a blast!

We found a Holiday Inn Express about 20min away for $50/night..... Where I try to stay if I can - most are newly rennovated, free Cat5 in every room, and cinnamon rolls!!! :D

Im doing MAA. Havent decided yet if Im towing to LA and doing the whole thing (my preference) or meeting up in Flagstaff.
Unless I dont have money, but so far its looking good. Id like to have a travel partner to run the video, share costs and add to the fun. But Ill most assuredly be going solo.
To this day I STILL boycott Holiday Inn for what they did to Bill Harrahs auto colleciton. And Motel Six is cheaper anyway.

I'll be attending with several members of the SVT Cobra Mustang Club. I'll be doing display only as I couldn't get into the on track, it was sold out before I realized it!! :(

What did they do to Bill Harrahs auto collection?

When they took over, they auctioned a TON of the cars off. This was way back in the mid or even early 80s.

Well phuck. That sucks ass. ALL the open track is sold out. GRR! I HATE comitting money so far in advance.

Open track was sold out VERY quickly......why I didn't even bother. There's so much to do and see, I just want to go down and have a fun weekend.

Well, I checked it no more than three weeks ago and Thursday and Sat were still open.

I don't recall which day I was looking for.
With 3000+ cars expected though, I am amazed those days were open that long....oh - and if you do go, get there early....

Well, as I mentioned, Im doing (so far at this point) MAA. So, unfortunately Ill miss out on Thursday.
Ive been to several "Street Machine" Nationals etc, so Im familiar with big crowds. Why early? HOW early is early?

When I went to Charlotte in ''94 I didn't show, I was a spectator and we parked pretty far out getting there at a 'normal' time (like 8/9ish).
But I hate crowds....so it might be ok if you're normal :) Plus I like to avoid a lot of traffic too. I have just accepted you don't get much sleep at stuff like this - I mean how much did anyone get at the Modular Shootout? ;)

Well being IN the show should ease things a bit right?

Yeah, I hope so. Friday I'm just going to spectate, but Sat I will be there EARLY to detail, Sunday a more normal time, but still probably up pretty early...my GF hates events, she doesn't get to sleep in at all - there's plenty of time for her to sleep on the trip down/up but for some reason she doesn't buy that answer :)

You might want to also check http://www.gtamc.com to see if any of those guys are coming down. Either way, pretty sure we're hitting 81 along the route.
