Hello,

I own a company specializing in performance upgrades for Ford's line of Duratec V6 and I4 engines.

We currently have a 2.3L Duratec Focus as well as a 2.3L Duratec Mazda6i.. Both cars use Ford's new generation of computer. I was wondering if your product will work with both of these cars? I am also interested in using the programmer on the 3.0L V6 Mazda6s as it too uses the same Ford computer.

The 2004 Mazda3 will be released this November/December, and you guessed it, it will be using the same computer. These new 2.0L and 2.3L Duratec 4 cylinder engines are going to make both the Focus and the Mazda3 very hot cars in the sport compact scene. We would love to use your product to tune our project cars as well as use your product to help with future turbo kits for all of these cars.

Thanks,

Nikolas

The answer is most likely yes. I know we can support the new Focus, but I have not yet tried it on a Mazda but i don't see it being a problem.

If you are truely serious about this, we can make some arrangements to come out there and work out any issues that arise with this control system.

I am definitely serious about this. We are speaking with a Mazda6s owner who is in the armed forces. He will be out of the country for 6 months and says he will leave his car with us for the time he is away. This gives us a great opportunity to meet with you and do some tuning on this platform.

And since I own both a 2.3L Focus and a 2.3L Mazda6, we could get some great baseline tunes made for all of these cars. There currently is no tuning device for the Mazda6 and I think there will be a decent market for one. When the Mazda3 comes out, one of the first things the owners will be looking for is a way to tune their engine. All of these cars are tuned from the factory for 87 octane. Even if we were able to tune for 91 octane and trim the air/fuel, we would see very decent gains on these engines. (based on what we have seen with how rich they run at WOT)

If you would like to email me instead of discussing it here on these boards, just let me know:

I just wanted to know if you guys have seen my invite to email me about this. I havent received an email regarding working along side SCT to bring out the product for the Mazda6i and Mazda6s.

I figure that we have access to a Focus 2.3, Mazda6i, Mazda6s, and maybe even a Mazda3 at some point, and SCT would be interested in using these cars.

Please have someone email me so we can begin coordinating for you to come out to SoCal and begin tuning these vehicles. We are set to receive the Mazda6s in mid November and can go to work on it immediately.

We are extremely anxious to begin our tuning of our own Focus and Mazda6i. The sooner we can begin hashing out the plans for your trip out here, the better.

From what I gather, they are VERY busy right now trying to get this product out in the market. Between the "racer" packages here on MD and the "dealer" packages being offered on their website (www.superchipscustom.com), I think they've pretty much got their hands full. And it looks like they're trying to continue tuning cars as we speak. If you haven't already, I'd suggest emailing them at sales@superchipscustom.com with all your contact info and your intentions. You should get an answer through there...at least I did.

I'm just curious though, are you considering a "dealer" package? It'd be nice to have a "one stop shop" for the best chips for the Duratec line.

Penguin,

Actually, I dont know how that will work out... We dont own a dyno.. But we do have a relationship with a dyno shop down in L.A. and we can strengthen that relationship if we had a tuning device. There is nothing preventing us or the dyno owner from "renting" the dyno 2-3 weekends a month, and scheduling custom dyno tuning sessions for any make/model/etc.

I already asked if we could order the dealer packages with this dyno arrangement and have been told no. I would love to be able to schedule Duratec tuning sessions in SoCal (lord knows there will be no other Duratec specialists for hundreds, if not thousands, of miles) and offer this service to our customers.

Hopefully we can come to an agreement with SCT and get the ball rolling. I dont want to come off like Im impatient and trying to rush them though. I understand they are VERY busy, I just want to start a dialogue and beging discussing our plans for the various Duratec engines out there (Cougar, Contour, Taurus, Escape, Focus, Mazda6, Mazda3, Ford 500, Ford Futura, Mazda Miata, etc maybe even the 2006 Mustang with the 3.5L V6 Duratec.. )
