Besides stronger half shafts, is there any difference from the 99/01 IRS to the 03? I couldve swore I read there were some geometry changes and/or other things to reduce wheel hop, spin and improve handling.

The half shafts as stated are beefier. There is a crossbrace added to keep the differential from twisting due to the torque the engine creates. The geometries are also different. The sway bar is thicker as well I believe.
I think the 03 Cobra IRS would be insane on a bolt on, or even a headed/cammed GT. You'd be right in teh power range to the rear tires where the IRS is still really strong, and you could really benefit from teh low unsprung weight. I would have no fear launching a GT on a cobra irs. I would get some upgraded halfshafts for good measure, but otherwise I think an irs GT would be wicked.
