Well, I had 2 JL W6-V2 10's in my car awhie back (sold for nod money), but they sounded damn good, hit like a somomabitch, and would take plenty of power;)

Well, I managed a measly 130 dB's.......never could reach that magic 140!!!!!:curses:

And in my old Jeep cherokee, I managed a 139 out of 3 JBL 12's and 2500 Watts...........and still have yet to hit that 140!!!!

so, how bout ya'll?

135.7 with one w6v2. Had a cheap ass sealed box. I am doing two of the w6's and almost triple the watts. The boxes are made more for show, rather than sound. I don't like to guess on the db's, so we will see when I hit the meter. :headbang:

I've hit a 138 from my sound quality install in my stang, so I was pretty happy. It would do a lot better except for the fact that I have what amounts to 3 walls between the subs and the front of the car. The pics will show what I mean.

DJ,

What kind of subs are those? Also, that is one sweet looking setup :D

Kornnut,

I know what ya mean man, I had 2 10" JBL Power 1600's in my car and I actually reached that 140 (142.1 pto be exact) but one of em blew on me (someone decided to "rewire" it for me  ) so I don't count those, b/c IMO, they blew up, so I don't want anyone else to consider them :) And JBL wouldn't warranty them either, so I don't want to give them anymore business ;)

But, the 2 boxes I had holding my V2's were VERY small, so that they could be removed from the trunk on trips to the track....they are ( I have a cheap Pioneer in one of em) only roughly .7 cu. ft. So, as you know, they just teased my poor subs..........w/c is why I sold them :)

snkypete,

I had the same problem......seems as though noone wants to mess w/ that small thing that is so often referred to as a mustang trunk ;)

133 point something with a single solobaric (about 5 yrs old now) and an old-school punch 200x2 (i think that's 200 watts RMS, plus it's bridged and underrated). I think my mids helped that though, i had a pair of 6.5" kicker resolutions in the doors.

That's with the box in the trunk of my lincoln. It's a sound quality setup, but nothing special.

I've had plenty of offers to work on it....just none that are up to my standards.....hell, I can most likely even get the shop who does the install a sweet write up in a national mustang magazine....

I just need to find a talented installer....but I'm also not prepared to drop 5-10k into a stereo currently. I have all the parts, I can do most of the wiring, I just need the trunk done. And with the battery in the back and the roll bar, it's not an easy task.

Well, I'm not that big, but there were a couple places who wanted to "try" to customize the trunk.....

Thing is, I don't want a "try"

I want a "done" ;)

I know what ya mean......kinda :)

Im eager to try out my Memphis Audio 12inch MClass DVC....my 5 channel Kicker(KX700.5) is already in the trunk and pushing my mids. Just gotta get the box finished. The D class sections is rated at 400rms at 2 ohms:)

I had the same amp, when I hit 135. Its a bad ass little amp, I wish sometimes I would have kept it.

i snagged mine on ebay for 200:) The birth sheet says 930 total watts. After running a 2 channel and 4 channel and now having this Kicker, i would never go back to 2 seperate amps.

Hey guys, sorry it's taken me a while to respond, I haven't been online much.

TARZAN:

They are Cadence Shockwave 8 ohm SVC subs. Cadence no longer makes the sub. Actually they are subs from two years ago, but they were new and had never been played and they were exactly what I needed for my setup so I got them, and I've been happy with them, although they are only a middle line sub. I will be replacing them soon with their current line.

Snkypete:

Thanks man I appreciate it. Actually I did the install myself. The forms were started by someone else and he actually had them in his car at one time, but when I bought them I had to do a lot of work to make them work in my car. All the fiberglass tubs had to be redone because the equipment he had in his car was considerably smaller than my Cadence equipment so I had to cut the tubs and stretch them to house the amps and then I painted them to match the car. Also when I set the panels in the trunk nothing was snug so I had to pull the material up and reform them to work in my trunk. It would've probably been quicker and easier to start the install completely from scratch, but I really liked the install when I saw it and he was selling it for basically nothing so I decided, hey I can fix the problems and slap it in the stang. I would never trust a shop around my area to do a really nice install in my car. They would @#!$@ it up for sure. BTW, is that your car in the latest issue of MM&FF? If so, you've gotta a sweet setup.

Yep that's me, thanks.....that's why I am so damn picky :)

You really did that??? That is some incredible talent!!! You do it for a living?

The struts are an awesome touch and something like that is exactly what I would want to do...problem is working around my rollbar and battery setup....finding a good stereo shop is extremely hard and you're right, I trust almost no one.

No actually I am an engineer, I just do custom work on the side. I've been doing custom body and paint work since before high school and custom stereo work since about the time I started driving so I have a good bit of experience.

The problem with the actuators is that they are expensive and take a lot of room. I have three 4" actuators in the install and they themselves are $200 a piece. With your battery being relocated in the trunk and the rollbar it would be difficult to utilize them. They mount approx. 10-12 inches behind the face of the panel so they do take up a lot of room.

I recently did an install for someone in a civic that has a lot of fiberglass panels and tubs. I will post pics of it and you may be able to get some ideas from it that will work around your other stuff.

Bare in mind that these are pics before the material was laid on the panels and before the tubs were painted.

Thanks man, I appreciate it...it takes me a while because I only have a couple hours in the evenings to do them. I'm very picky just like you...I do custom paint and bodywork on the side and I pick a car to death before it leaves my bay. If I'm not satisfied with it, then I don't let the owner have it. I take a lot of pride in my work, and I don't want to see my name on something that looks like it's done half heartedly.
