Just some basic questions to help start this forum. :thumb:

You can take it to a detailing shop and have them buff it. Wax is probably the bes way from keeping it from getting swirls in it. Can't totally keep them from being there though.

Meguiar's will have a new product out shortly called NXT. There has been some info here and there about it on some of the detailing websites, but for those that haven't seen it, here is a short movie :

Scroll down and click on "launch video". Now most of you that know me know I have praised Zaino up and down.....well the NXT line is all synthetic polymer, easy to use, and priced right....I will be making the cutover to NXT come spring and am expecting fantastic results.

Wow! If it works as well as that video shows, I'm in. The Zaino is just too time consuming to use regularly - and expensive. Mine's black, so you can imagine what it takes to keep it looking good under the lights and in the sun.

As far as removing swirl marks...
I had to get aggressive with my paint in the fall due spotting on the horizontal surfaces. Cleaner wax and vinegar wouldn't touch it, so I went at it with Meguiar's fine cut cleaner. That left a bit of a mess from a switl standpoint. I followed that up with Meguiars Swirl Remover, a good washing with Dove, and a few layers of Zaino #5. It looks darn good right now, but not perfect. I was going to get a new buffer in the spring and go at it again with something, but I'll try the NXT first and see if it gets the finish to my liking.

And to prevent swirl marks, I wash with a wool mitt and lots of suds, dry with "The Absorber", wax/polish by hand using straight line motion (front to back on the horizontal surfaces, top to bottom on the vertical surfaces), and remove wax/polish with only 100% cotton bath towels. Anal? Yes, but if you're not, it shows.

We have a Meguiar's rep who is part of our local CT club and we are going to be doing a local seminar (a bit far for you to drive :) ) and he is supposed to be getting us some samples.

From the reviews I have seen on http://www.autopia.com - this stuff will be HUGE and I have seen several videos - each shows the same thing, it appears that it is THAT good....

I have had Meguiars NXT Tech Wax on my GT since Friday. The car needs to be washed but, here is a pic I took during lunch out in the parking lot. I am uploading the other pics to the webshots link in my sig.

Got to love Autopia :)

I think a lot of people will be amazed with the NXT....especially the die hard Zaino people....if I can be converted, I'm sure most others will believe it when they see it too.

Meguiars ScratchX worked good for me. Got rid of most all of them with the first coat. I'm going to put 2 more on the go with some regular Meguiars. I tried Zaino and I don't like it. Anyone want to buy a slightly used Zaino starter kit?

ScratchX is a good product. Keep in mind though that it does not contain wax or anything to protect your paint so you are really not putting on a coat. Think of it like kitchen cleanser. You use it to scrub the surface to remove imperfections and then wipe it off. Once you wipe it off, it is gone. It may have some oils in it that get left behind but, those evaporate after a few days or get washed away the first time it rains.

My favorite combo to protect my paint before NXT has been Meguirs #7 show car glaze topped with Meguiars #26 high tech yellow wax. The picture below is of my car after using those products.

I have a tube of ScratchX in the garage. It was a major PITA to use. Crap wouldn't come off, so I never used it again.

Did you apply it like wax, wipe it on let it haze and try and wipe it off??? You have to wipe it off while it is still wet otherwise it will be a bear to remove.

That's probably why.
