Which Computer is Best ? [Archive] - Modular Depot Forums

Hello All, Im new to this board but not new to Modular Motors. I have a little experience in using FAST/SpeedPro but have never messed with a car that is street driven. My Question pertains to a 02 Lightning. Im Currently running a reflashed 01 PCM it was done by a buddy of Jerry. He went to reflash my Stock 02 Computer a few weeks ago and I was told the 02 Computer didnt allow access to all the tables. While I dont know or didnt ask if this was due to not having the latest software, I want to know. When I go to order my Reflash stuff from you guys which computer am I actually better off with 01 or stock 02 ?

In all honesty it makes no difference. The same parameters are available in both the '01 and the '02 Lightning. If you are a total novice to all of this (which it sounds like you aren't) then the '01 would be easier for the following reason; The 99-01 software for the most part is all the same. I am sure there are more 99-01 Lightnings out there (some out of warranty) so there may be more peer support when using the older EEC rather than the newer one. The main differences in the software is the tranmission function, not engine stuff.
