When was the Zetec engine orginally released?

Also, in what vehicles besides the Focus was the Zetec engine available?

I think it was released sometime in the 80's/90's, but i'm not sure. You can find them in Escort zx2s, contours, escapes, etc.

I thought the 1st year the 2.0Zetec was in 1998 the 1st year of the ZX-2 Escort? I could be wrong.

the 98 ZX2 was the first car to get the Zetec back in early 97. and the Contour/Mystique soon after.

this is of course AFTER those europeen models that were made using the zetec.. Fiesta, puma (i think) and such...

the engine as been around for a couple of years in europe.. but not sure of the details

The contour int he U.S. had the Zetec back in '95 and the zetc engine was available in Europe in '93 or earlier.
