I am posting this question for a friend of mine. Seems he has come across a new old stock cardboard box of what appears to be a stick-on Dash Plaque. It was made for Ford Motor Company. Each plaque is 4 & a quarter inches in length (left-to-right) and 1/2 inch in height. The lettering takes up 3 & a quarter inches and says:- LIMITED EDITION, and then there is 1" left blank where a number has been stamped into it. The lettering is chrome, the boarder is chrome and the background is a vivid metallic Gold, more of an orange-gold than a yellow-gold. The stamped number is stamped in black. It's heavy (for its size) and very attractive. He thinks because of the packaging, that it was intended for either a Harley Davidson or a Lightening. Possibly a King Ranch.
Has anyone one here ever seen what I have described on one of the aforementioned trucks?? This box they are in contains 1,000 of these, carefully packaged, each wrapped in tissue paper and in numeracal sequence, 001 to 1,0000.
Thanks!

There's no part # on it, nor on the box. Seems to have come from an electroplating company in Geneva, New York. The date on them is from the early 90s, like 1991 or so. - I know that is before the trucks I mentioned, but my friend thought they were from the 1st year Harley ~

with that date it wouldnt have been for a harly or a king ranch, and i think there were more than 1000 of the orig lightnings. What makes you think its for a ford? dont mean to seem dumb

Oh, because it had "FORD" all over the box ! ~ But no address. They are really beautiful, elegant & expensive looking and heavy for being 4 x 1/2 inches. Exceptional quality. Personally, in the dark corners of my mind, I thougth that I had seen one of them on some Ford truck, but dated 1991, I cannot recall any Ford truck from then that could be a special limited edition. Another buddy thought that they were from the Pontiac Firebird convertibles of 1988-1989 made by American Sun Roof Corporation. (But) Why then FORD on the box ?

Is he going to sell them or what?
I'd be interested in # 418
It might look good in the 1/2 DIN space above my MP3 player.

I don't know what he has in mind for them. He sent me one of them, #027. They only go from 001 through 054. So, they were a series of 54 of ??? Something. that obviously was never made, or left without these on them. These things were certainly NOT "cost effective" !!!

He's pretty sure that they were for the American Sun Roof made Pontiac Firebirds of 1986 to 1993 or so.......

They are identical to the ones used on the 1987 thru 1990 ascMcLaren Mustangs, but those were black on chrome. These are brilliant gold metallic on chrome. We also looked into the 1988-1989 ascMcLaren Pontiac Grand Prix Turbo, but it's not them, either. They didn't come with any dash plaque - there was no room for one.

Somebody on another board said they had seen these, but could not recall on what, except they were sure it was a Ford. We checked the 1990 35th Anniversaty T-Bird, and it was not that car either.

Any Ideas would be appreciated
It looks like this - but in brilliant copper/gold & chrome, instead of silver & black:--

you said it came from an electoplating compay in Geneva, New York. Do you know the name of the company? They are probably still in business and maybe they could tell you what vehicle they were for.....

didnt they make the eddie bauer edition trucks/suv's back then? could it have been an eddie bauer signature edition or something of that sort?
how bout on a lincoln, i know there are several edition of the town car for example.

does he know for sure that is the only box of them? you said they end at 0054, could there be several other boxes with higher numbers i wonder....

The company that made them closed for vacations on December 15th and is re-opening on January 2. I will be one of their 1st phone calls. No, there was only one box, to his best knowledge.
No Eddie Baurers nor Lincolns ever had these badges on them.

Sandy,
Did you ever find out what they were for?
