so I guess I qualify :)

Sweet. I think we should keep your little 2V secret in here. Wouldn't want any of those guys thinking the 2V has potential now, do we?:-p

Hey Ken, can I be a 4V mod along w/ ModularFox??:D

LOL.... nope... not stock.... it's a forged 2V motor, with ported PI heads, cams, bullitt intake, cobra crank and a 03 flywheel... and I want to sell the whole thing.... now if you wanted to buy the whole thing and then part it out, keeping what you wanted, and getting rid of the rest, I'd sell it to you

I just bought a 4v for my next engine project. Complete from TB to oil pan. BIG plans for a na/nos build. NA for road racing and AX. Bottle for the strip. I would like to see 400 hp on motor and hose it down with a 250 hp fog of giggle gas.

I just have to stop buying parts for the 2v I have.

96GTS
09-12-2003, 03:29 PM
Sounds like a plan dude. Big bore? That's the only way I've seen 400+rwhp NA (or a 5.4L). That's what I want eventually (Big bore)...

Darren

Khaine
09-12-2003, 03:32 PM
I am considering a 302 stroker for my next build up, slap a set of FR500 heads on it, port them really well, and then a hogan's sheet metal intake and a lamotta twin turbo....

nothing like excess :D

Racer_X
09-12-2003, 03:36 PM
Deffinatly big bore. I am looking at the darton sleeves and an offset ground crank. I would like around 320 cubes but I have no idea where it will end up. I would go 5.4 but I want to stay light with the aluminum block. Its bad enough the heads weigh more than the 2v. The thing would handle lika crap with a truck block out front. I also want to rev the hell out of it and not worry about the bottom end while road racing. Running 6000^ rpm for extended amounts of time.

96GTS
09-12-2003, 03:39 PM
If you're getting a custom fabbed intake, why not go w/ a 5.4 and get 331 cubes?

I like the idea of the big bore, because it retains the stock stroke and can still be revved to 8 grand easily. Not made for too much boost tho b/c of the thin cylinder walls...I'd only put like a 150shot on the big bore and call it a day;)

Hey Jim....while we're on topic, what does a BARE big bore block go for? I see the short/long blocks on your site, but if I do it, it's going to be piece by piece as I afford it. No core block...I need this car running. Thanks!

I'm working on getting it functional again. I sprayed my GT motor with a 200 shot a few times... the new motor is getting the same through a custom built Dual Stage NX kit I've been peicing together. 1 Gal Aux fuel tank for 110+, pump, regulator, return lines, etc.

What's up Darren & Eric. Long time no chat. :)

Eric, I ditched the idea of an auto after finally coming to the realization that I can't use the car how I wanted. I would never be able to leave at 5-6k with the auto and still be able to lead my Club on cruises or to events.

Hopefully the manual will treat me better than the 3 auto's I've put in the car this year.

My 99 is looking kinda lame right now. I broke the number 8 piston when i hit the rev limiter and detonated. I have ordered the new probe forged pistons and rings and am trying to figure out the easiest way to get them in. I was told i could pull the crossmember, pan, and pull the old ones out the bottom and replace them through the bottom. Is this true?? My cylinder and head are fine. We put a boreascope, or whatever, the little camera that goes in and looks around and everything else was ok. Is this possible??

I bought them when I still had the stock 17x8 rims.... they are way to small on the 17x9 Ultra-lites.

I know exactly what you are talking about. I found out that my car has been wrecked and been completely repainted. Whoever did the repair work and paint did a very shitty job. Also the owner didnt take care of the car at all. I cant trace any of this down either through insurance or anything. Gonna call SVT one day to see if they keep records of Mystic Paint request.

Anyways, a friend of mine has a guy that works in his shop who has done paint and body work for 10+years. When I have the time/money, I am going to hand him my car for however long it takes and he is going to get it back in shape the way it should have been before I bought it. Thats way down the road though.

LOL....I'll get the pics moved over to my online album in a bit, then put the link to it in my sig. Just ignore the shiny black Buick in there as well as the 88 GT...lol. I sold the Buick early in the year and traded the 88 for the Mystic.

I got lucky with mine....the last owner took decent care of it, not great though. Fortunately I got all the documentation with the car, so that helped a lot. I hate driving the car as much as I do, but it's all I have for now. Possibly gonna get either a newer GT as a DD or maybe a 1st Gen Lightning. Then I can park the Cobra and start saving for the repaint. Just gonna be hard spending that much $$ on a paint job.....lol.

Ya, the car is pretty fresh, I only had about 3800 miles on it at the time so I didn't want to beat on it too hard.
Hayward is in California. It is on the Eastside of the San Fransico Bay halfway between Oakland and San Jose.

Sweet, Teeps! :thumb: How bad was the harness/wiring involved? Did you use the T-Bird PCM? And did you use a Gen 1 engine, or Gen 2 with coil on plug and TB on top?

Ya know - a funny thing...even with the same tranny, rear end, and tires/wheels, my Mark VIII gets almost 3mpg better average mileage than the T-Bird...I'm guessing because of the higher compression/better efficiency of the DOHC. Have you been able to make any before/after comparisons in your T-Bird?

Teeps
12-01-2003, 08:33 AM
For now used the stock eec and stock wiring harness. It's the Gen 1 motor, also have a Gen 2 intake, and a Coil on plug harness / valve covers I'm thinking of going to the Tumble port heads with the 01 cobra, or an Aviator intake, but in the meantime, I may run the Gen 2 or a cobra intake for a while. Waiting for my Superchipscustom tuner to do some before and after dyno runs.

Merry Christmas!

ps. The Tbird is heavier than the Mark.... just a little. Well mine a little more with Brembo brakes!!

sorry, don't have any times...the car
hasn't been to a track. The best I can
give you is Don did a 1/4 mile test run
after tuning it and was able to produce a
11.00 sec flat time with him saying he had to let off it at the end cause he ran out of fuel. When I get back up there we are going to switch to a pro-m instead of the lightning and up the boost from 10psi to 15 psi and see what that nets us and later down the line think about upgrading the exhaust because I'm still working with stock manifolds..

ModMad

Chris,
Actually we didn't run out of fuel , the MPH was so high at the end of the 1/4 I had to lift, it was going close to 135 on the 1/4 mile test , with the 3.73 and the stock tires we where at 7000 rpm and I lifted.
just do not want you and others to worry about fuel , it was all good , but the meter is cose to pegging

Thanks cool Don, I stand corrected. I wasn't really worried. I don't believe you would have let me leave the shop with the car if there was major concerns with it. Don't worry, I doubt I'll be getting
anywhere close to 7000rpm until the car is back up at the shop. lol
