Paper BBK off, metal OEM on....
Also replacing my Stage 8 locking bolts w/ stock studs/nuts. The locking bolts are just too much of a PITA and it seems guys dont have many problems w/ the studs.

Darren--I know this is too late for you, but what I did was use the Ford gaskets adn studs, but use standard SS nuts instead ofr the Ford friction lock nuts. I just used two on each stud, the outer one as a jam nut. Then you don't have to wrench down the friction nut the full length of the stud. You just start all the nuts before tightening any of them, then run then all down by hand, tighten up the inboard nuts, then snug down the lock nuts. This saves a lot of time, at least on a DOHC.

I ended up going back to the OEM gaskets and studs. I previously had the Stage 8 bolts. The jam nut is a great idea. Never thought about it, but it makes perfect sense. I have a tubular K-member now, so I might just do that anyways. Thanks!

Hmm... just picked up a used set of BBK's (modified for a mark, though). Looks like one was leaking, maybe this is why. I'll make sure to get a new OEM gasket before i put them on.

I also used the stock studs and gaskets. The stage 8's i bought were so short. There is not much bolt actually in the head with the Stage 8's. I didn't want to strip any bolt holes in the heads. I had to shorten a couple of studs to make it work (JBA shorties). I used the stock nuts and put a second jamb nut on top of them. I do hear a slight tick though on the drivers side, not sure if it's a header or H-Pipe leek (Prochamber) or the motor is ticking.
