I am biulding a car for wild street type racing, and was wondering since the car would have to do a 30 mile cruise prior to running, would a Locker be more practical than a spool.
thanks,

get a spool, IMO they are actually more street friendly than the locker. i have driven both on a daily basis, so i have an experienced opinion.
lockers also weigh a ton, so the spool will actually help with your ETs with less rotating mass (even if it is marginal).

I've been contemplating this for the last couple weeks. That post just made up my mind. Thanks Mike!

I'm still somewhat chicken shit (resale/handling during hazardous weather) about doing the spool just like I was before getting 4.10 gears. I have long since feared the gear and should apply this regarding a spool. Screw it you only live once, 33 splines or bust.

I've long given up the thought of reselling this car. No way in hell is it going back to stock. Either someone buys it as a race car or I keep it. I've sold/traded/trashed all my stock parts...:D

My opinion on the bad weather deal is first avoid it if you can...if you have to drive in it then drive carefully and take your time. Really both the Detroit locker and spool can be dangerous if you like to drive fast in the rain.

Forget about ever selling your car. If you worry about that, you will never feel comfortable doing the mods you really need. Just do it right and assume you will keep the car forever.
