I am asking for any opinions on a carbed intake for the 4V. I am building a 4V to put in Fox body this winter for the next season. I have a MarkVIII to start building, and I think it would be cheaper to go the carb'd route.
the really short runners bother me in the fact that the motor may have to spin 7k+ to make any power.
thanks,
johnd.

Hogan's makes a sheet metal intake for carbing a mod motor, I think steve angel has one on his car

I believe you are correct. Steve Angell does have one on his car. 5.4L 4V carbed. Cool little setup to say the least.

I think you were just drooling over the 300 shot of nitrous that was plumbed into it... LOL:evilgrin:

Dude, I think you're on to something.

With a carbed 4V, would that eliminate the need for a stand alone system, such as FAST when dropping a 4.6 into a fox body?

that is what i'm thinking. I am not sure on how to power the coil packs though to fire the plugs:confused:
Although I am thining I can use a carb plate N2O or fogger system for way cheaper that a Nozzle system, bigger injectors, rails, etc...
I saw a cast intake for carb'd 4.6's at bowling greene that modular performance was taking deposits on. I just don't know off hand what style heads it fits. If we get a TIG welder at work, then I will just fab up a sheet metal intake.

well I just got an e-mail back from MP, and they won't have the intake out until middle of next year. unless I can get on a tig welder,(or find a 5.4 navi for real cheap)it looks like i will have to find a 96-98 intake and have to spend the money that I wanted to go other places.:barf:  :barf:

My opinion is I wouldn't do it even if it is easier.

I'll get back to you. Just got home from work and gotta go to school. Later, Mike

Edit: I guess if all you plan to do is competition then the carb route is fine. I just love everything about fuel injection over a carb because you have complete control over everything at the touch of a button, but it is expensive. There is only one reason why my cobra run 12's stock and I can daily drive it and a carb doesn't have anything to do with it. But in your case where all you're intrested in is all out power then I guess it really doesn't matter.

I have a complete 01 Navigator upper and lower intake that I don't need. I will sell it to you for cheap. Let me know if you want it. (shipping isn't cheap though).

Screamin'03- I love the fact that my 98 cobra runs 12's with nitrous and bolt-ons, and yet I can still drive 90 miles back and forth to work. Fuel injectoin is great, but this car is 95%drag car.
pantera1683-please pm me

I totally understand. I re-read the thread before I wrote what I wrote. In your case a carb will be fine. I thought you were messing around on the street at first.
