on a 94 t-bird LX....
How do you remove the top part of the center counsel? (part with ash tray) I removed the 2 screws in back, pushed and pulled a little, and couldn't get it to go.
How do you remove the back seat? It starts with the bottom coming out first if I remember right. I pulled up a little on the front, and felt it pop, and I THOUGHT it was just to pull if forward after that, but it wouldn't budge.
How hard are the front seats to remove and what kind of lubricant should be used? They've gotten really dirty in there, and have a tendency of not wanting to move. The drivers side seat squeals a little too. (dual power seats)
Thanks,
Justin

As far as the center console, that should be all there is. There are only the 2 screws in the back and the rest is held in by clips. It SHOULD just pull up. If it hasn't been taken off before it may take a little effort. Good luck.

I'll leave the center counsel alone since Matt was right on the mark with his reply.. just be careful with it... The biggest sticking point is the front edge... just needs a little tough love.
The back seat just push back and lift up at the same time to get it out of its clips and the bottom of the seat will slide out... then you'll see bolts for the seat back, the size escapes me atm, 3/8ths (anyone?)
Front seats, I would say a little WD40 to losten anything sticking, and then for more permanace after oyu take them out and clean them, use wheel bearing grease (RV and Marine dealer would be where to look) Its usually sold for camper or boat trailers or things that require berings to be repacked, but it lubricates well, and doesn't make too big a mess (This is simular to the goo in your sunroof if you have one)

Thanks alot both of you.
I got the console out, and upon reading, found out I was taking it apart only 45 mins from the exact time it was tested/certified 8 years ago.
I KNEW I was missing something when taking the back seat out. I got it up a bit and tried to pull forward, just never pushed back.
And I'll do some checkin as far as lubricating those seats. Hopefully I can get them cleaned out a little bit (clean out the french fries that were from the last owner, nothin beats 2+ yr old french fries baby) and see how they work. Maybe I'll end up yankin them when it gets a little warmer.
Now, my new question. The cig lighter. How in the heck is that thing supposed to come out? I'm assuming that the ring (retainer ring of sorts) needs to come off, but how is that supposed to happen without destroying everything else?
--scratch that question. Got that figured out. Just screw it. <IMG NAME="icon" SRC="http://images.zeroforum.com/smile/emsmile.gif" BORDER="0"> literally.
Did make a nice little replacement for my coin holders though. Took some plexi, and after about an hour of grinding and sanding and painting, I had 2 pieces in those holes ready for some switches.
Again, Thanks
Justin.<BR><BR>
