This isn't really technical enough for this group, but here - goes.
When I started my car yesterday evening (95 base Viii) the computer told me to check exterior lights. I hit the turn signal and noticed the left side flashed really fast like a light was out. Walked around, found the left rear light out. Ok, just replace the light.
Drove home, 2 hours, using my hand out the window (cold, brrr!)
Noticed about 1/2 way home the light started to work. Ok, I am confused..
(note that I replaced the multi function switch about 1 year ago, and even when it was out and the lights were not turning on the computer did not complain when tested)
Ok, so now the light is working (not flashing fast and my brother who was in another car visually verified it was working)
Ran the computer test, still says "check lights"
Had my brother look at all the lights - now the side marker/turn indicator on the left side is out (it WAS working)
At this point, I am looking for input on where to start.
Is it something in the wiring, the flasher unit, the multi function stalk (again) or just both the bulbs?( I have never seen a bulb die and then come back!)
My shotgun approach says the bulbs and the flasher unit and then go from there....
