What do you do with the things that you bring with you that you don't want to run down the track with?
Do you trust the people around and just leave it laying out?

I've always put my stuff in a pile and then put the carpet over it. No problems so far.
If you're worried about it, just get friendly with a few folks around you and ask them to keep an eye on your stuff when you're running, and you'll do the same for them when you're there.

I park by one of the 50 gallon barrels and pile my junk up next to one. No troubles as of yet.

Only things I leave out are my tires and jack which I pile up next to the fence with the jack sandwiched between the tires. In 3 years no problems. I bring only minimal tools and my cordless drill for removing lug nuts all of which stays in my car. Only time I empty the car at a race is if my sister is there with car or if my buddy brings his trailor.

I have an innate distrust of people, so I generally leave my extra stuff at home. I'm like 20 min from the nearest track, so it's easier for me. Even if I ran on slicks, I'd just drive to/from the track on them.

I just leave it against the fence w/ a blanket over it.

I honestly try to never go to teh track alone. 99% of the time when I go, the rest of hte Bama Mafia are there with me. The one time I have been alone, I didnt leave anything out of my car. I have no reason to not to trust people, I just dont want to give it a chance.

My friend chains her tires/wheels to a fence, but that's because they're on the other side of the track and we don't want to think about where they are.
99% of the time, nobody touches anything at the track. Usually, the times when people lose something is at a national, when there's more people around -- most of whom aren't there to race, but rather to watch.
I rarely ever go to the track alone. If I do, I usually know somebody else there and if I want to leave something out of the car, I'll put it in theirs or with their truck. However, I'm usually stripped clean of "extra" stuff before I run.

DK,
I'm in the same boat around the track I go to because there aren't always friends of mine around. Although, I live 50 miles from our nearest track; I still leave whatever I don't need at the house and hope to god that I don't get a flat or run into any troubles...

I stack my stuff up and run a long chain through everything with a heavy duty pad lock. I pull a large black plastic bag down over my tires and put all the small stuff in other bags. I guess if they want to take something, they'll have to take everything.:lol:The other thing that's good about the plastic bags is, I don't have to worry if it rains. On Sundays, I have my suitcase out there too.

I do the same thing Jim does. I chain the wheels and jack to the fence or around a pole at the track. I leave my impact gun in the car.

My wife and kids always come in the Expedition - I keep all my gear in the truck while I run. It's a family event for us. It's pretty cool that we are all into it.

if im going to a regular t/t then i drive to the track on my slicks and i dont take anything extra.
if its an all day/weekend race then ill tow and keep stuff in the back of my pit area (away from where the general public should be).
during weekend races, once racing is over on Fri and Sat i huddle all my stuff under the easy-up and lower it down so that it covers everything. the public is gone, and racers who camp at the track wont be looking to steal anyones stuff. in fact, they are better security than the track security is because they will look out for you.
noone has ever slolen anything from me.
