I bought the Ford Fuel injection book by Charles Probst, hoping to learn more about the EEC in a way that would help me read sensor outputs and how to use my EEC tuner. Well, that was a wash. It doesn't tell you anything that you can't figure out with a Helms manual and some common sense. Everything was in such general terms that it wasn't too helpful. I just need to figure this darned thing out so I can tune the car at the track.

I am also very intrested in learning more about the EEC and tuning. Have you explored this site yet? http://www.diy-efi.org/diy_efi/.

also have you seen this thing, which may be avaliable for the EEC IV's in the near future? http://mtcforum.zeroforum.com/zerothread?id=111

I have a chevy book that I have read about Tuned port injection that was very useful and detailed. I really wish I could locate a ford book that had the same quality of content. Let me know if you find somthing better. Maybe Jerry would have some suggestions too.

I don't know. If you go to the yahoo groups for the EEC tuner there is some knowledge there that you can tap into. Beyond this, there is little you can do.

I will, one day, maybe this year, start to write my book on EEC tuning and what not, but that's a long ways off. If you have specific questions I can answer them.

Very cool Jerry!

If, when you complete your book, you need a publisher I can probably hook you up with someone. I have a family member that is pretty well connected in the publishing buisness. I know I will be lined up to put a copy of that book on my shelf

Thanks for the reply. I looked at the W&S product. That will be very helpful in tuning my car when it becomes available. My problem right now is that my car has not responded well to a custom tuner file that Fred H did for my car. The car is down slightly on Hp with the EEC Tuner(about 1mph in the 1/4) compared to a standard Superchip, and the mid range feels really flat. Like I can't keep up with a mini van pulling away from a light unless I get into it for about 5spi of boost. Then the thing takes off like crazy. There seems to be no in-between. Fred thinks that "something is fubar", and I don't dissagree, but I get no codes, and I don't know how to verify the accuracy of the sensor readings. This is what I was hoping to get out of the book. I have a DMM, and I can read sensor outputs, but I don't know what voltages will correspond to useable data. ie. ACT = 70deg @ x.x volts, and so on.
Anyway, so what I was trying to do first, is verify accuracy of sensor readings.
