I'd love to, but that's a little bit too early in the year. I'm not planning on getting the Mustang back out on track until May. I'd have to double time it to get the car back together again.

Maybe I'll have to bust out the 911 though...it's been a few years since she's seen any track duty...plus I can drive that car to the track. Hmm...all it would need is some fresh brake pads and fluid and an oil change...I can deal with driving it on street tires.

Damn it, that's really tempting. I've never been to VIR, and it would be nice to get some laps in there before bringing the AI car out to play. I'll let you know in a week or so.

I am thinking about going to this. I am not sure that I'll have my car ready by then though. Having never been to 1 of these before I guess it is appropriate to register for HPDE1. Any tips would be appreciated.

Bring sunblock. :)

Seriously, if it's your first event, just bring a helmet and an open mind. You won't believe how much you'll learn in just one day, as long as you're willing to accept criticism from the instructor.

Oh, and fresh brake pads are a good idea, too.

Yes and no...just because it's not warm doesn't mean you can't get a nasty sunburn

Don't forget the center console as well. I got my ass reamed out at my first NASA weekend a few years ago when the instructor realized that I didn't clean out my center console (he handed me an instructor evaluation form, and I opened it up to get a pen out...:) ).

You will want the HPDE, either 1 or 2 or 3 depending on your experience. If its your first or 2nd OTing pick 1, if you have a ton of experience or a race license pick 3 in between pick 2.
