I have a 2000 F-150 with the 5.4 and as soon as I get back from deployment I'm looking to make some serious mods to the truck. Top of my list is a Holley Thunder S/C kit, cams, and possibly sending the heads to Foxlake for a Stage 1. Current mods are an off the shelf chip, drop in K&N, and Flowmaster SI/DO muffler. Anyone here familiar with 5.4 mods?

I've got a 4.6L '98 Model, and most any mod that will work on the 4.6L trucks will be good for the 5.4L.
If you really want to do some serious upgrades..Keep your eye on eBay-there are complete Lightning/Harley truck superchager systems that are new pulls or low mileage. Then all you'll need are a set of good rods, and a set of pistons, and fuel system upgrades. What's nice about it all is if you have a 4R70W,then you have less drag in the trans than the Lightning guys do with that 4R100,and the 8.8" axle instead of the 9.75",so less drag there too.

Hmmm....I know some of the upgrades for the 4.6 will work on the 5.4 to a degree. I have a 3.55 geared 9.75 LS rearend and probably the normal 4R100....Lightnings got an upgraded 4R100 and converter. I considered the Eaton blower from the L trucks and HD's but with better ones out there I couldn't see the point. Pluss after buying all the extra parts I would still have spent close to what an aftermarket blower would cost.

I would reccommend a magnaflow or dynomax ultra flow over that flowmaster imho. What end result are you looking for with the truck? Torque and "stump pulling power" or a street truck?

If it were a street truck, you might want to consider swapping over some navigator heads, and a turbo to round out the project.

What kind of budget are you working with?

I'll switch out the Flowmaster with Magnaflows and a true dual setup when I start on the engine. More of a street truck (that's all I drive it on anyway) but I still want it to have the functionality of the truck as it is. Not interested in a Navi head swap or a turbo. Found a Kenne Bell kit that looks interesting. I have a strong budget that I'm still adding to as long as I'm deployed....which will be for several months yet.
