I am new to the tuning scene and I have been seriously considering buying a TWEECER. I have a 2002 GT with off road x piupe, MAC cat back, cold air, Steeda TA, intake spacer and underdrives. I also have 3.73's. I need something to turn my back 02's off and recalibrate my speedo for the gear change. I would also like some tuning ability, but don't want to jump in the ocean with no floaties. I have read allot of these posts, but I am still not understanding the scope of this product. How easy is it for an individual tro use? How far can you go with it? Is it a handheld tuner like the Hypertech or Predator or is it a package with software like the TWEECER. Please give me some answers that make sense. One of these days I would like to go turbo or blower, but that will not be for a few years. I want something that is easy to use to adjust timing and fuel, but can also do the things mentioned above. I have read allot of the TWEECER board and it doesn't sound like there is very much support for the new user with that thing. Will the racer package be a chip or a flash? Which would be better? I would like something that I can tune from a laptop or PC. I don't really want to have to burn, reburn, reburn , etc. I am a single person looking for advice and info.
Please help.
You can e mail me if it would be easier s20dbond@cox.net

This is software that you run on a computer with either a flasher or a chip/burner. It gives you tuning ability, a good base tune starting point and excellent documentation. The TwEECer doesn't give the base tune and has virtually no documentation. I've had two different TwEECers (RT and LPT) in my car and with my particular combo, it can't handle the changes I have to make to get my car to run right.

You should be able to do all the things you listed you want to do.

You'll have unlimited support on this forum.

Don -

Could you please elaborate a little? I remember from the corral you were making some pretty good #s with that setup, but I can't remember exactly what you're running...Could you describe the engine setup and what problems you had (want to compare them to my own problems lol).

Thanks,

The purpose of me answering is NOT to bash the TWEECer or EEC Tuner - they seem to work for a lot of people - I'm just recounting my own experience to show there are limitations to either, that the SCT will NOT have.

My car runs 11.4/121+ and weighs 3700#. I did a manual to 4R70W swap. It would not do the 2-3 shift on time no matter how I set the command points. Jerry figured it out and emailed me the corrected .bin file. Neither EEC Tuner software nor TwEECer software had access to the one thing that had to be changed. The .bin file choked the EEC Tuner it was too big for the EEC Tuner's memory - the TwEECer RT's datalogging would not work and I had great difficulty even loading the file - it would work sometime and other times it would not - not a good thing. Jerry sent me a chip and all is well. Neither unit could handle the changes I had to make to make my car run OK.

Aah, Ok, I see now..Your case is somewhat of a special case, wouldn't you say? And, yes, the only reason I asked was because you said there was something you couldn't acess, and I know the EEC-IV has pretty decent support. (I work with a Tweecer RT)

Glad to see that you weren't just bashing it.

I do look forward to the SCT software, but I will probably continue to use Tweecer for a while as I'm getting pretty close.
