Are there two different style of 1 piece timming chain lower gear sets? I was reading some info on compatability with billet trigger wheels and came across the photo at the bottom (see link):
http://www.flash.net/~ivc1/cobra/crnkgr.html

One is Ford Part XL3Z-6306-BA and the other is Ford Part XL3Z-6306-AA.

Are they both the new updated design and one piece? What are their applications? Which one would I need if using the stock trigger wheel from a 96 GT?

I guess since talking about trigger wheels do you think it neccessary to upgrade to the billet trigger wheel?

Thank you,
Royce M

I had this discussion with Randy. If the one that came out of the car is OK, just use it. The one piece isn't stronger. It's just impossible to put the two gears in backwards since it's one piece. Strength isn't an issue here.
If you're planning on running alot of high rpms, the billet trigger wheel might be worthwhile - but I'd say it's more of a "nice-to-have" then a "gotta-have-it".

Right, just what Keith said. the XL3Z-6306-BA fits our year cars and the XL3Z-6306-AA fits later models(2001 up) and uses a different trigger wheel wth a different off-set, so you dont want to mix the two or a binding problem will occure.

Thanks for the info. Glad to hear that the XL3Z-6306-BA gear fits our year cars and will work with the aftermarket billet trigger wheel. I guess I will investigate the price of the billet trigger wheel and see if it economical enough for my buildup.

Thanks,
