How does the Moser spool/axles combo stack up against the competition? Cost wise and strength.
Should have titled the thread Spools.

Moser and Strange are the most popular in racing. Just about everyone I know uses Moser in the 8.8 stuff and Strange for 9" rears. Moser is very competitively priced, in fact I think I paid $550 for axles, spool, C clip eliminators and studs.

I bought my axles from Powered by Ford in Orlando, spool and C clip elimintors from a local shop (no discount) and I bought a replacement C clip and studs directly from Moser. One thing I will say is that Moser has excellent customer service. One of my C clip eliminators got installed croked and eventually failed and Rob Moser worked with me trying to nail down the problem.

Here is a handy calculator for axles. http://www.moserengineering.com/moser_interior/axletech.htm
What is the first gear ratio on a 2000 GT T45? 31 spline is good enough for me but I would still like to work the above calculator.

Something like 3.35 or 3.39 or something close. Right?
Ok...3.37

What happens when they fail, major damage? A local shop will be doing the work would it be best to get axles with the C clips already installed, or let them?

They chirp like any other bearing. Mine happened within a few hundred miles after the install. I'd get them installed from Moser if you could.

On the street with a spool does going around corners make the tires squeal? When the road is wet am I facing serious handling problems especially in the corners. FWIW I drive with the T/C off year round and in the rain. I'm trying to get a true sense of what a spool is like on the street.
Bill (guys) you've been patient with me, thanks. :thumb:
