Buying used axles...

A Ford tech on my local board is parting out a 98 GT for his friend. I'm going tomorrow to look at the 31 spline axles. Anything I should look for? He's leaving them in the car to show me they are straight and he'll just pull them out there.

The car has handling suspension and a 31 spline Tlok, so I dont think it was used heavily at the strip. Just a good street car...

Any suggestions?

Look at the splines themselves for excessive wear, basically where they slide into the differential. Mine have noticable wear from driving on the street with a spool. Also when looking at the splines you can look length wise down the axle to see if it's distored at all but honestly I doubt you'll see that. These axles are pretty damn strong.

I went to check them out. They were straight and the splines were good, but they were chewed up a little on the smooth part just after the splines. He didnt want to sell them to me. Which is fine by me...

I did get my MM c/c plates tho:headbang:
