This was the first time I took the car out since the tranny swap and except for a few small things I already knew about the car didn't act up on the ride there or back but while I was there it was a different story.
I only made 5 passes with a blistering best of 14.861 at 94.67MPH with a 2.300 60ft. :barf:
I didn't expect to go fast ET wise today but never once did I MPH over 95... something is seriously wrong somewhere. My best guess is the tune. The car is supposed to have a limiter set at 8500RP (the highest a stock ECC can handle) and then I step it down with the DIS4 to 7300. I was hoping to shift at 6900-7000 but once I hit 5800-6000K a limiter kicked in!
I tried all 3 programs and they all did nothing. I don’t think the chip is working.
Jay (azuremach1) was running 107s in his MACH1 with only exhaust and a CIA. I should easily be able to at least match those MPHs. So something is screwy.
On a good note I found out how much my car weights. wink.gif
Old weight = 3350
New weight = 3210 w/o me in it! PS removed. (slightly less than 1/2 tank) :)
Best part, I had my 50+ RSD installed, Stock DS, sway bar, and a box full of crap in the trunk. I know where I can take some more off too.
Oh well off to the dyno tomorrow she goes to see if we can get to the bottom of this and see if she'll actually pull what I am hoping for despite the problems.
It’s defiantly a blast to drive, but only to 6K…

Did you make sure the chip contacts are good and clean and making a proper connection??
Wait, now that i think about it, if the contacts were not 100% clean, but some of them made contact, it wouldnt start at all. At least thats how my cobra did when I thought I had them all clean.
Good luck figuring this out, keep us updated.

That was the first thing I checked at the track. I used a mild (white) Scotch Brite pad to clean the contacts and cleaned it with alchol. I'm sure it's all off.
The thing is that if I remove the chip the car can't hold an idle with out it and quickly dies but when you turn the test program on it doesn't do what it's supposed to do. (idle at 2K) It's a JMS flip chip.
The motor feels real strong and pulls great but it's certianly capable than mor ethan 95MPH.
I'm hoping the dyno will tell some of the story tomorrow.

Cool to see that it is running again Eric!
The first chip that I had the car ran like A**, definetly need to have it on a dyno to use the 2v comp...
Even with the C4 I am trapping at 105+ NA, so you should def be higher than that once everything is figured out!:joy:

Eric,
I'm just hoping it's nothing serious. I knew I'd have some bugs to work out but I didn't think I'd have to look for 10+ MPH.
Nice times in your sig! :headbang: What size shot are you up to now?

Thanks Eric!
Those times are with a basic NX wet kit shooting the 150 - - - I have something up my sleeve for next year though!  :headbang:

Sounds like something from the ecu is causing it.
Did you swap in the 5 speed tranny harness?

All I want to know is where did my 100+ HP go? -confused

Before I went I read that someone else with a swapper had problems with his car cutting out at 6K and he said it was his MSD wires. So after the first run at only 211.2HP 213.4TQ I pulled and metered out the wires on the driver side of the motor and sure enough one is bad. It showed no resistance with a meter.
I did 2 more pulls just to make sure that the other 2 programs on the chip worked and they did show minor improvements.
On my way home I stopped off at AutoZone to have the codes pulled to see what else might be going on. I got 3 codes all dealing with the old automatic transmission functions. Torque converter malfunction, high input from transmission, and shift solenoid B malfunction. Hmmmm, wonder why. I don't know what problems there are causing but I'm sure it doesn't help.
So after tomorrows cruise the chip is going back to JMS for a reburn and I have to check all the wires on the passenger side of the motor and call up MSD.
Oh the joys!

I have a 98 GT 5 Speed harness on a 01 t45 transmission. The VSS from my auto is just tie wrapped up on the transmission now because if I hook it up to the 01 sensor it goes hay wire. So I have no Speedo.

That is one of the headaches for not going over 6k.The car doesnt know how fast its going.
To use a speedcal to get the speedo correct. It needs a steep correction factor (like a tko tranny does).
Contact --->Willie Norman <willienorman@sbcglobal.net>.
He is the designer/maker of the speed cal he can tell you exactly how to get it working correctly.
Even if you dont buy a speedcal he can still get you the info you need.

I have a SpeedCal and it's wired in. Thank You for the info!
I will contact the guy you mentioned.
Steps in the right direction :)

I trap 112+ all day w/ my 01 4V and T45...:dontknow:
213rwhp is why you're running 14s....thats typical 98 GT ETs/power level

Yeah, it didn't help that the car hits a limiter at 6250 and has 3 spark plug wires that aren't firing...

So did JMS tune the chip for a 01 4v or your 2v engine?? 6250 is really low for the redline on a 4v.

The limiter was supposed to be set at 8500 since I can step that down with the DIS4.
The chip has to go back.

I was having similar problems with mine after the swap. Ford Chip did my tune. Did you keep your GT computer? Here are my dyno sheets after the initial program.

I sent FC these sheets and the chip and after a few more problems I have her running like she is now. Those numbers are VERY VERY low. I would check the tune first and after that start checking the engine. Where did you get your motor?
