What have you drag racers found to be the best psi for slicks? What happened when you went lower? Higher?

My best 60' was a 1.57 w/ 9psi in the ET Streets. The higher psi the more you spin. But to low and your mph can drop and it gets squirly at the end of the track.

I've never tried below 10 psi. It obviously has to be measured pre-burnout, but I wonder how much the pressure goes up during burnout.

Last night I started at 12 psi, which is where I start. If the car hooks great, I will leave it. If the car spins some, I take it down. I haven't gone lower than 10 psi.

10.5 psi is what I use and go down from there if it's not hooking but that is rare.

18 psi cold on an et street has worked best here. Anything lower and my car hurts up at the top. 1.84 is my best 60'

I ran my best with the tire pressure at ~9.5lbs pre burnout.

I have gone down to 5 psi. This was not on a door car. At 5 psi it pinched the tube and was flat on the top end of the track. Not something I would recommend. Door cars I would say no less then 9 1/2 psi. Be sure to screw the slicks to the wheels. One of the guys in our club pulled a new slick off the wheel two weeks ago at our TMCCC race. Keep playing with the pressure till you find what your car likes. Just remember to be safe. Wild rides are no fun with a flat tire....:eek2:

I've had my best results and 10-12 psi depending upon track conditions.

10.5 or 10 if the track is poorly prepped.
