Hey, I am getting a tubular k member, coilovers, and a-arms from D&D and was wondering if I need a bumpsteer kit if I get offset rack bushings? What do you guys think?

I have the PA k-member....stock A-arms...and I think I need the bump steer kit....and Steeda's X2 ball joints....but I want tubular A-arms first.

Usually you get one or the other. Just get the offset bushings and have your bumpsteer measured.

Offset bushings? Is that a different term for the ball joint? I am suspension illiterate
LOL

The offset bushings are the bushings on your steering rack that connects to your K-member. The move the rack up to make it level. The bumpsteer kit moves the end of the rack down to make it level. Basically, you want your steering rack as straight across from A-arm to A-arm. Offset bushings and bump steer kits are just 2 ways of doing it.
Correct me if I'm wrong, Chad:thumb:

Nope you got it. Thats why you usually do one or the other. Sometimes the bushings aren't enough to get it perfect so you throw in the bumpsteer kit. Personally I don't like bumpsteer kits for street cars. I think it would be better to have bumpsteer measured and determine if you have a problem before trying to fix it which cause other problems.

Who makes a good offset bushing? MM only has the offsets in aluminum. I'm not to worried about noise. I have the D&D K, A-arms, and coil overs w/ drag springs. Should I get the center drilled or offset. They say the offset is for the MM K-member, would it also work w/ the D&D? 3/8" or 1/4" offset?

Or should I go w/ another brand for my application?

Is installing the bushings I could do in my garage...with common hand tools? Is there anything specific I'd need?
Thanks to everyone that has helped out.

Sorry, can't help you guys out there. I haven't put them in because I haven't saved up enough $$ for the MM kmember and arms yet. I would guess they'd be easy to install. Pull a few bolts, pull the rubber out and insert the almum ones. Darren, for your ?? you might want to just give them a call and ask. I'm sure someone there knows.

Where besides MM can I find aluminum offset rack bushings? I found a how to on the net...for a Cobra...doesn't look at all hard.
I figure I should go with the non-center drilled bushings...since my car has an aftermarket k-member....but which one..the 3/8" or 1/4" offset....since my car is about an inch lower...I am guessing the 3/8"
Sorry for all the questions...thanks all.

What do you have against MM? If nothing then call their tech line and tell them what you have and ask which one should you get. They know better than anyone here.

You think I have gripes about everything it seems...:) No....I just don't know what's the better choice...and I like to shop around. I looked at Steeda...but they don't have aluminum bushings...only poly. I'll shoot MM an email. I have been talking with a guy named Matt there....about coil overs....and he has been a great help.
Thanks again

haha, sorry about that. You were just like I have this and am going to use it and then you were like, other than MM, some people have strong feelings about certain things, I was just feeling you out :). I understand shopping around. The only problem w/ that and mustang suspension is most aftermarket companies have it all wrong. MM will take care of you, no worries :).
let us know what they say. Matt's cool, I've delt w/ him before.
