I spent most of the day at the track today. DA wasn't great, but I wanted to see if I could finally get this heavy assed Cobra into the 12's.
First run... DA 1010'. Short burn out as this is a warm up run. 1.80 60'. Best the car has ever done, so I would say the QA1 stuff sure did something! Had a really good run going, shifted to fourth, and it wouldn't go in gear! With no fourth gear, still ran a 13.35.
Second run... .518 light, 1.82 60'. Running my buddy in his Lightning. Took off like a scalded ape. Had a good run going, hit fourth...nope, it would not go into gear.
Pulled to the timing shack and the car wouldn't go into 1st, 4th or reverse. On top of that, the clutch was really getting ragged.
So, drive 5 hours to and from the track, and never got a complete run. Broke the tranny and the clutch and had to nurse the car 2.5 hours back.
Sometimes I wonder why I enjoy this so much!!! ;)
Oh yeah, and I also had to break a stud to get the Centerlines off. One of the lugs had stripped the stud inside, and it was NOT coming off any other way!
So I think it is all Starkies fault! He started this breaking shit this weekend!!! :D

Well Ken, Thursday afternoon, borrowed a set of ET streets, packed up the cobra and started heading down to Jacksonville, NC for test-n-tune. I's curious to see what she'd do with some traction. Well, the beast didn't quite make it there. A mere 10 miles from my house I feel a small vibration in the shifter. I pushed in the clutch and it went away. Then it got violent. It's the throw-out bearing. So, I guess I'll get some more practice r and r'n the long tubes again. I'm not even pissed about it as this time it doesn't even cost triple digits or quadruple digits for that matter to fix. Total price= T/O bearing $40, grease $5, and of course beer $15, and you're looking at a $60 parts list and about 4 or 5 hours of my time. So there's been quite a few breakages going on lately. :(

Welcome to the broken tranny club:D
My problem is, I dont just want to upgrade what I broke....I have to upgrade everything I touch while removing the broken part:rolleyes: Flywheel, clutch, K-member, brakes, A-arms, coil-overs, EGR delete, header bolts/studs, header gaskets, blah blah blah
Should be fun once it's done.............and then the gears go in:evilgrin:

You know what they say, tradgedy comes in 3's. So you should have stayed away from the track until 2 other guys busted something....:D

That was one club I really didn't care to join! ;)
If the tranny is covered under warranty, it will get fixed back to stock. If not, I am not sure what I will do with it. I don't think I can get an SFI bellhousing for the 3650, so I may look at some other tranny option. I read something about a super heavy duty T-5 in MM&FF this month, and I know that you can get an SFI bellhousing for the T-5, so maybe that is an option. If I could get an SFI bellhousing for the 3650, I would probably put that in when/if the tranny was rebuilt.
As far as clutches go, I am thinking Spec Stage II or maybe a D&D setup. I would like something that can handle the launches without shredding with my heavy assed Cobra.
But I still think we should make Starkie wear a "Bringer of Bad Mojo" tag for a month or so! ;)

Sucks, guys. I feel your pain. I've gone about ~2200 miles on the new motor this year.

...Im sure Starkie had something to do wth this: was going to take the 'stang to a car show last sunday(yeah I know its not a show car) well as I was backing it off the trailer, water temp shot to over 250 deg. that damn "Miserere" water pump locked-up :curses:
and the Fourms going down this week(and lost my "starkies-a-dumbass post") and the Hurricane comming north
Randy
p.s. the H2O pump is on its way back to Meriere for a free re-placement :thumb:
