Hey guys,

I am hoping someone can help me out here. I am lookint at a 96 Cobra with alot of Steeda parts on it.

I am looking for a Daily Drive/Auto X toy. I plan to run R Compounds next year and run 8-10 Auto X's.

I not sure what quality and usefullness some of this stuff is so I am hoping some of you guys have experiences with it.

Here is whats on the car.

Full Steeda suspension from front to rear of car.It includes Sport Springs,caster/camber plates, front tubular sway bar, rear adjustable sway bar, aluminum upper and lower control arms, subframe connecters, and G-trac bar.All are Steeda products.Tokico 5-way adjustable struts and shocks and Koni quad shocks.Steeda Underdrive pulleys.Steeda supercool aluminum radiator and K&N air filter.Ford Motorsport cereamic coated headers,Bassani Stainless Steel X-pipe with cats, and Dynomax mufflers with stainless tips.Steeda adjustable clutch quandrant with centerforce clutch.Cervini Cobra R hood.Hawk performance brake pads and Speedbleeders.Pro 5.0 shifter with Steeda handle.

How harsh of a ride would this be on the street? Ok for daily driver? Anything on here that you would change for Auto X? I am not in a class, so anything goes, just having fun.

How serious of an autocross car are you looking to build? Because it has subframe connectors, you're automatically going to be bumped up in to Street Modified, where, quite bluntly, you're going to get your ass kicked. Unless you plan on installing a 5-link, TA or 3-link, that would not be a good autoX car.

A stock 96 Cobra in FStock or a prepped car like Dave Schotz's in ESP would be a much better choice.

The Steeda LCAs and UCAs are not a good choice at all for an AutoX car, as all they're going to do is cause bind-induced oversteer (snap oversteer). They'll feel really good up until about 7/10ths, but then they'll start to bind, and then you spin.

The Tokicos are underdamped for autocrossing...Konis or Bilsteins are what you need.

The engine mods are fine, and would be great for a Street Prepared car, but unless you're not paying a premium for the suspension mods (and are willing to replace them to be competitve), I'd keep looking.

Thanks for the response.

I am not competing in any classes, we run for fun and its basically run what ya brung so I am not worried about any mods.

Its very casual we are just out to have fun but I would like to be up in the faster of the cars.

I don't mind changing out some parts, that why I was wondering what is going to hurt or help over a stock suspension'd car.

I figured if I bought a stock car I would probably do springs, struts, subframes and throw some race tires on it. This has some other parts and I wasn't sure if they would help or hurt.

If class isn't an issue, then buy it, switch out the control arms (MM lowers and FRPP uppers with stock bushings are a good choice), get some Bilsteins and have fun. You may want to consider going to a stock front sway bar as well...even with adding stiffness in the rear with the adjustable sway bar, all that front bar is doing is helping to cause push.
