I have long tube 1.75 headers on my XR7. I am going to be running catalytic converters on it. The headers have 3" collectors, and I plan on running 2.5" into the converters. I have read here that you want to move the converters away from the motor.
1) The question is, how far back from the collectors can I put the converters and still have them function? And do I want to put in a crossover in front of the converters?
2) I have an EGT, and I was wondering how far from the motor it should be installed? It is currently in the collector, but I am concerned that readings may not be accurate that far from the head (about 30").
