I have one of my wholesale machine shops that has a '01 5.4 Lighnting engine thats blown-up(3 rods outta' the block) so its going to need a new block. well FoMoCo does not make that block anymore, only new style blocks called NVH (noise, viberation, harshness) and there cast thicker. as per Ford tech "do not use these on older engines" the blocks are cast thicker and ther seems to be a problem wth the "knock sensors" picking up detanation since the thicker blocks and newer PCM read at a different frquz than the old motors, I told my customer about the new software(SCT) and he wants to know if this issue wth the knock sensors & thicker engine blocks can be tunned around. this truck is mostly used as a race vech and the new engine is tobe built wth stronger internals.

It was my understanding that the Lightning does not use the knock sensor, only the standard F-150's. This is due to the ammount of mecanical nose added buy the blower. The frequency change.

I could be incorrect!!!

Correct, the Lightning has a knock sensor but does NOT use it...
