This is a pretty lame question, but I still don't have a loop on my car.
What brand do you guys like and where's the best place to pick it up from? I've seen 'em range from like $12-35 and wasn't sure which one was the nicest. Not worried about cost much, just quality. I don't want something that's gonna be gay to install or crooked or anything.

I went with the Metco because it was suppose to fit and clear everything. I put it on myself (amazing I know) and I like the way it fit. All my other cars have been lakewoods. But this one fits in the tunnel with no ground dragging problems.

UPR - you can see mine on the far right of the attached pic. I think they are all pretty much the same. You can usually get one pretty cheap on eBay.

I have the HPM unit. From the looks of Dan's pic above the UPR looks just the same. Lots of room there for the driveshaft and installs very easy, just like them all.

I have the Metco also. it did cost a lil more. I think around 60 bucks.

Lakewood. Didn't really have a choice at the time b/c I needed one to tech in at the NMRA race and that's all they had. It clears, I don't see it so it's fine.

Good deal. Thanks, fellas.
Just to be certain, what's the distance back from the yoke that it needs to be?
Thanks,
Matt

Less than 6" from the yoke.

How much longer/shorter is the TKO to the T45? If I welded the loop in place 6" from the yoke w/ the T45, would it still be OK when I went to the TKO?

I never touched mine when I did my TKO install. I believe the TKO is nearly identical in length.

I agree
Anyone have a copy of the NHRA rulebook? Trying to find out when a D/S loop is required. I had read 12.99 on street tires or when ever slicks are used. But just saw a quick chart that claimed 13.99 for any tire. Just looking to clear it up.
Thanks

Thanks, I saw that earlier tonight. Thats what got me wondering. I want to see what the actual rulebook says. Cause some things on that quick ref don't add up on other issues.

if you race on regular radials then you should be fine at the track.
anytime you add DRs or ETs to the mix a d/s loop should come along with them no matter what ets you are running.
you definatily dont want to catapult your car.

Should be, yeah. But I plan on some 12s next year on street tires and don't want to be DQ'd cause of something small like a d/s loop. Guess I'm gonna have to buy a NHRA rulebook.

On a quick search here is what I found...
2.2 DRIVELINE
OEM production line all-wheel-drive vehicles permitted. Drive shaft loop required on all cars running 13.99 (*8.59) or quicker (except vehicles running 13.00 (*8.14) or slower cars equipped with street tires.) See General Regulations 2.4.
