support more horsepower? i really need and honest, professional answer please. my current fuel system setup is ford racing 42 lbs. fuel injectors, 255 lph intank fuel pump, stock fuel rails etc. on a 1998 ford mustang gt with a supercharger. will i be safer and be more sufficient if i add a KB BAP or an inline fuel pump? i need an honest answer. i need to know which setup will support more horsepower?

i went with the KB BAP when i was in your situation, its supposedly good for close to 550rwhp with a 255lph in tank, where as the inline and intake combo was supposed to be good for about 500-525.
ive already done 494rwhp and i just added more boost and swapped from vortech mini race to procharger big red with a different MAF in a blow through setup instead of draw through, and i should be closer to 550rwhp now but its getting tuned this week so ill have #s in a week or 2

ok so you say the bap will support 550 rwhp supposedly? are you still currently using a bap and is you fuel system similar to mine. since you are adding more boost and getting it redynoed soon are you intending on just retaining the 255 lph intank and bap. i guess i am looking for the quick easy answer but i still am confused. an additional inline fuel pump seems more reliable than a bap and there isn't much supporting horsepower difference between the bap and an inline so i guess its my decision. thanks for taking the time to respond.

how hard was it to hook up the bap. i am definitely looking for the ease in installation. the inline fuel pump has alot of wires and relays that i dont really wanna mess with so how hard was it to hook up the bap. if its easier to install the bap than the inline i will go with the easier install.

im running a 255lph in tank and a 20amp KB BAP through 60# injectors and an aeromotive boost reference FPR. I plan on staying with what i have for now since i have some room in it and cant afford to upgrade any further. If for some reason my new setup exceeds the capacity of my fuel system he will just detune it a little until it is safe. i should know soon.
this is a thread i made about a year ago when installing my BAP that answered all my questions

do you still have the 1998 gt tank setup or is your tank assembly modified? whats the difference between the 20 amp and 40 amp BAP and which one will i need at about 500 rwhp? i plan on running a 255 lph intank, 42 lbs injectors and i will leave the stock fuel pressure regulator installed since i can adjust fuel pressure in the tune. are you running a return style or returnless style fuel setup? do you have you bap wired to run 24/7 or is it boost referenced? and did you since get a dial knob installed? thank you in advance

its a stock 98 tank setup, all i did was drop in the fuel pump, while i was there i upgraded the clear plastic lines in the tank to pushloc hoses. the 20 amp BAP is for single pumps and the 40amp is for dual pumps. The BAP works off an orifice thing that runs off of vacuum and only turns on when it senses boost this way it doesnt burn out the pumps.
im running the stock return setup with stock lines from the tank to underhood where it runs into an aeromotive y block to AN hoses and fittings to my steeda rails and then out to the fuel pressure regulator and then back to the return line.
the link in my sig will take you to my webshots that has underhood pics if youd like to see. i kinda like having the aeromotive regulator because it ups the fuel pressure 1# for every 1# of boost automatically

what brand intank fuel pump did you go with and was it made specifically for your year tank? i found a pump for a 98 but its for a cobra tank. i just found out that the intank ive had in my tank for that past couple of years is made for a 97 but it has been working for me but im changing it out for the one specified for the 98 cobra tank. where did you get the aeromotive boost specific fuel pressure regulator? i have one but i believe its vacuum regulated. ive seen the pics of your setup. it's sweet. you say that you are running a blow through setup but i didnt see your maf sensor. isnt it suppose to be located after the bypass valve on a blow through setup so you dont vent metered air? i know you vent it back to the intake piping but its still metered air. dosent the stock fpr on a 98 gt up fuel pressure 1 to 1 from the factory? oh yeah why dont you run an intercooler at that amount of boost? you must really have a safe tune. are you running an 8 rib or 6 rib setup?

i used the walbro/vortech in tank. it was a direct drop in/plug in for my 98. the aeromotive FPR im using is the 13101. its available in many places, dont know where i bought it but heres a jegs link.

the pics are from my draw through setup. i dont have pics of my blow through setup yet because i havent picked the car up from being converted yet, i was supposed to pick it up tonight but its not done yet, ill post pics when i pick it up. but yes, with a blow through it should be after the supercharger, about 6-8 inches from the throttle body and in a straight piece of tubing. my bypass in the pics you saw is a mini race vented back after the MAF(since the air was already metered) but my new procharger bypass is vented to the atmosphere.
im not running an intercooler simply because i cant afford it and it can be safe without it with the right tune, i have one of those less expensive intercoolers but i dont wanna cheap out, i just wanna do it right once with either a procharger 3 core or the paxton unit. obviously an intercooler would be better but ive consulted quite a few people that say ill be safe with the boost im at now, but i cant go any higher or ill definately need it. plus with the intercooler ill end up with more power and ill exceed my fuel system and have to run a sumped setup with an a1000 pump and all new lines from the tank up to the rails.
right now im running 6 rib but the overdrive balancer helps to give me more belt wrap for less slip. planning in advance i purchased an 8 rib balancer, ill upgrade the rest to 8 rib if i notice a lot of belt slip, but once again, only as funds permit.
