Hey MD, I bought an SCT X-Cal II from you guys last November. I haven’t really had a chance to play around with it until now and I’m having issues. I posted after I got it that I no longer had a rev limiter. I have gone in and set the two step and rev limiter, but nothing. I’m also having issues with my speedometer reading 5 mph high. I tried to change to 3.27, but again, nothing happens. I have 4.10 gears; however, I also have an installed speed-cal.

I would think the programmer is doing nothing, but since I no longer have the factory rev limiter, I know its doing something.

Any suggestions??

Thanks,
Jeremie Simonsen

You sure you have no limiter? We move it up to 6,500 standard. I checked the tune and the gears are set to stock. You should be able to dial in the speedo with the speedcal.

Ken, thanks for the reply!

I have had it up to 7000 both in and out of gear. I tried changing the rev limiter to 6000 and two step to 3000, but still nothing. I will have to put back the stock tune to see if that corrects the speedometer as I don’t recall it ever reading high prior to loading the tune.

Is it possible the tune on the programmer is corrupt?

Anything is possible, but it's unlikely. Try the stock tune and post back up.

Ken – Ok, just got done with the stock tune and the speedometer is still reading 5 high, so it’s not in the tune. I put the 93 octane tune back in and set the adjustability parameters for the drive rev limiter to 6000 and the neutral limiter to 3000. Neither one worked.

Maybe I am doing something wrong????????

Side question – Why do the instructions say to removed the fuel pump and fan fuse before tuning? Is this simply a safety precaution or will not removing these fuses affect the tune? Reason I ask is because I forgot to do this before loading back the 93 tune.

Anyway, have any suggestions? I got this more for the two-step than anything (at this pointing time anyway), but I can’t use it.

Thanks for your help,
Jeremie

Just a precaution so you don't kill the battery. Will not cause any harm if you don't do it.

The speedo being off can be adjusted with your speedal. The settings they give you aren't always exactly right on. So with the stock tune you have no limiter at all? Not really sure I've ran into that one.

No, with the stock tune I do have the factory rev limiter. Its only when I load either one of your tunes that I dont have any rev limiter.

Ok. Let me look over your tune. If I don't see anything, I'll write you a new one. I guess there's an outside chance we have a corrupt file.

Hey Ken, anything yet?

I have tried again and again, but Im still not able to get the two-step or rev limiter to work with either tune.

Im fixing to change the Revs Per Mile to 787 (315/35/17) to see if that corrects the speedometer. Will advise.

EDIT: I just remember something. A few years ago when I first started going to the track with the guys from HPP, Jeremy made a comment while looking at the sticker on my door that I had a computer code for 2003 that was difficult to tune. Could this be the case??

Does your speedo work and read correctly? That code should work fine. I think I see why your 2 step isn't working, but the rev limiter should work fine.

Started raining yesterday, so I didnt get out to test.

No matter what I change, I cant get the rev limiter to work with either of your tunes.

Hey Ken - I test drove the car to check the speedometer, and by changing the rev per mile to 785, it actually raised my mph buy 4 at 2K. So I changed it back where I’m running 60 at 2000. Maybe the mph is off on our Dodge, which is what I have been comparing my car to.

I also moved the rev limiter down to 5500 and she spun freely all the way up to 6700. And still no two step.

Anyway, have you been able to find anything off in the tune? I don’t mean to be a pest, but I’m going to the track here in the next couple of weeks and would really like to use the 93 tune; but don’t want to run with no rev limiter.

LMK,
Jeremie

Hey Ken, I would really like for my 2-step to work. Is there anything you can do, or do I need to pay someone local to overwrite your tunes?

you may want to try and call the shop. Calling is usually the easiest and quickest way to get a response. And that goes for any business out there.

I did and was told Ken was busy / in a bad mood, so I left a message. Was told Ken or someone would be getting back with me. So far, nothing.
